We believe that our students should have the opportunity to follow an enriched IT and Computing curriculum, to prepare and give them the opportunities to gain knowledge and develop skills that will equip them for an ever-changing digital world. Computing has deep links with mathematics, science and design and technology, and provides insights into both natural and artificial systems.

At its heart lies the notion of computational thinking that enables students to develop:

  • a mode of thought that goes well beyond software and hardware, and that provides a framework within which to reason about systems and problems
  • In order to become problem solvers, computational thinkers who want to engage in the evolving technological landscapes.
  • to contribute and engage positively in the technological workplace that will encourage them to actively participate in design, development and creation of new technologies, and how it is used in everyday activities.

Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate – able to use and express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology and at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world. To inspire students to be responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology and to provide inclusivity, promote computational thinking and digital creativity.
