Science
At Key Stage 3, we want students to master fundamental scientific concepts and build a coherent understanding of the natural world. Students develop enquiry skills including planning, data collection, analysis, and evaluation, fostering critical thinking. We focus on developing scientific literacy by expanding subject-specific vocabulary and strengthening students’ abilities to write clear, structured scientific explanations and evaluations. Key numeracy skills such as measurement, data handling, graphing, using formulae, and interpreting statistical information are embedded across various topics. Our curriculum connects learning to real-world contexts and STEM careers, inspiring students and raising awareness of opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math fields. We aim for all learners to develop confidence and enthusiasm in science through accessible, practical, and relevant experiences.
At Key Stage 4, we aim to deliver a rigorous and coherent STEM education that equips students with essential knowledge, skills, and understanding required for academic success and future STEM careers. We support and develop students’ ability to comprehend, analyse, and communicate complex scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematical ideas clearly and accurately using appropriate terminology. This further supports students to confidently apply mathematical concepts—such as measurement, calculation, data analysis, and problem-solving. We aim to raise awareness of STEM career opportunities and pathways, equipping students with transferable skills and motivation to pursue STEM-related education, training, or employment.
